  • What’s real

This post I’m typing with my hands using my laptop computer in my home office connected to the internet will be real for visitors to read when I publish it this hour. It’s 1:09pm Pacific time. I’m typing this in Medford Oregon U.S.A.

How can you the visitor reading this post know what’s written was really made from a living breathing human and not an Artificial Intelligence powered robot? The question is more important to humans now than the same question would have been five years ago in 2020.

Today is November 18th 2025. How do you the visitor reading this post know that todays date written on this post is the actual date when it was created? This question is also more important to humans now than at any other time.

When I press the PUBLISH button on the top right side of my screen with my pointer and select arrow tool every word and sentence and paragraph will be published with a time stamp at the top of the post live online for visitors connected to the internet.

The moment I press PUBLISH might seem irrelevant to the visitor reading this post and is more important to humans now than ever before.

Everything I’ve written might seem boring to read and mundane information to learn to most visitors viewing this post. To Artificial Intelligence the content of this post can be interpreted in many ways.

Artificial Intelligence is becoming used more and more to create audio and video content and still images. AI is used more and more to edit photographs. Trillions of dollars have been spent investing in AI technology for all these reasons.

Human visitors to websites view and listen to content not knowing if it was created by a human or a robot. This is something many of us humans are anxious about. Still images of people on the internet are not what they used to be because of the use of AI. What is an AI generated image and what is a real photograph created with a camera is a popular question for more and more of us humans.

We like to know what’s a real photograph specifically when it comes to photos of people. If an image looks like a photograph it might be or it might have been edited by a human using an AI tool.

The same goes for voices when you pick up your phone to answer a call. If the caller is unknown is it a real living breathing human who called your phone or is it a robots voice powered using artificial intellegence.

All these questions humans have are more present than ever before and what they mean have different implications to different people with different jobs and reasons for looking, listening, watching and being exposed to.

Does this information make you excited, happy, confident, nervous, curious or some of each?

I believe much more good will come of AI. While few people will make the most money using AI, more and more people will be able to earn money using AI. I hope you have fun accessing the internet and stay curious.

  • Internet and TV, there’s a difference.

The internet used to scare me. The internet used to excite me. The internet is a busy environment bringing men women and children together from around the world. The internet is not neutral, while it might appear to have the feeling of being neutral often the loudest and biggest messages that are repeated most lead people navigating it.

The same goes for TV. There is scary news on TV if you look for it and there are heart warming relaxing shows to watch if you look for them. While TV and internet have many similarities, they are different. Watching TV is more like being on a one way path. Using the internet is a more proactive experience. Websites ask for visitors to interact by imputing directly to a website with the keyboard and pointer select tool.

You are powerful and your use of the internet makes a difference. The difference you make using the internet, you might not notice immediately. TV may seem like an endless library where you can choose what to watch and it’s different than the internet because over time your input makes a difference.

Over hours, days, weeks, months and years your use of the internet has an effect on how the internet shows itself to you. Input is received and interpreted from visitors to the internet around the world. Those interpretations are summed up and form how new content is created on the internet.

Just like watching a whole lot of horror on TV has an effect on the viewer, the same goes when using the internet. Consuming is more than buying food at a grocery store. Just like in a grocery store you are wise to look what food look freshest and read the sell by date on packages of food on the shelves when you’re shopping for food, the same goes for Television and Internet.

While it can be entertaining to watch an old movie or show on TV and visit the same content on the internet you’ve navigated to for years there’s new content to visit on the internet and new shows and broadcasts on TV every minute. Keep your eyes open and choose wisely.

  • My mom taught me how to cook food when I was a young boy. We cooked countless meals together. Later when I learned how to cook food for myself I learned to prepare meals for myself. I like to share food with others. Food is a blessing of life. I am blessed to have enough food to eat. I enjoy eating meals with other people. One of my favorite foods my mom taught me how to cook was chocolate chip cookies. I have many memories of preparing the batter on the kitchen counter by needing the dough and adding chocolate chips, eggs, baking powder, flower, sugar, vanilla and water into a mixing bowl and then onto the kitchen counter and dividing the dough into round balls and placing them with space in between each ball of cookie dough onto a greased metal baking tray. Then I’d press down on each ball making them flat and round. The next step in preparing the cookies was to preheat the oven until it was hot enough to bake the cookies on the baking tray. Cooking is a pleasure of mine and as a young boy I waited patiently while the chocolate chip cookies baked in the oven at home. The smell of sweet chocolate chip cookies was potent. The taste of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies I enjoy to this day. I prefer cookies when they are fresh out of the oven and have cooled down a little and still soft.

People love to eat dessert. Sweet foods are often prepared as dessert to enjoy after a meal. The meal is the main course and most filling. The dessert is usually a smaller portion of food and usually sweetened with sugar or fruit juice.

By the mid nineties I was used to cooking most meals for myself. At home I lived with my dad and he had hired a nanny who looked after me to some extent and prepared meals for us. My dad hired five nannies over the years to help look after me and prepare meals for us. I was 17 in 1995 and there was no longer a need for me to have a nanny. I knew how to cook for myself and was used to it. When I was 18 I enrolled in community college at FRCC. I had a job working in the kitchen mostly as a dishwasher in an Italian restaurant. I quit my job and focused on college. My dad gave me a car because I was a college student. It was a Mazda 626 LX sedan. In college I was preparing to study for an Associates Degree. I enrolled in prerequisite courses for a full year with a full time schedule of classes. There was a computer room in the Campus in Heatherwood where I created a Hotmail.com account for my email address. The internet was new to me. I had experience using computers at home as a young boy and in the computer room in elementary school. When I was going to college the internet was marketed as the next big thing. There was a lot of hype around it. At some point my dad gave me a computer. I remember some of the first times I logged on to the internet at home in my room. Realplayer was a big deal back then. Realplayer was a program on the internet where visitors to the internet could stream live video to their computer. I used a dial up modem connected to my computer to connect to the internet. The speed of the amount of data that could be sent to and from my computer was much slower than what it is today in 2025. Most of the videos I watched with Realplayer were prerecorded videos. Watching a live stream technology did not exist back then. The only live stream video was usually on television on occasional news reports.

My memories of what the internet was back then was a big deal. I had already been introduced to pornography in magazines and by the time I visited porn on the internet I knew that it has a powerful effect on the visitor. Outside of college and homework I was having a difficult time socially. I didn’t know what I wanted to major in for a career and after one year of college classes I stopped going to college. My dad took back the car because I was no longer a college student. I told myself and others I was a student of life. I went to work full time. I remember working at a Baja Cali Mexican restaurant where I learned how to cook on a line. It was not fast food and it was not a fancy restaurant where a waiter took customers orders at their table and served their meals at their table. At the restaurant people would line up and place their orders with us cooks from a menu on the wall and pay for their food that was made to order at the cashier who was running the cash register. The restaurant had similarities to the Chipotle restaurant chain. Hand held cellphones were barely on the market and technology for pay to tap and google pay did not exist. Customers paid for their food with cash dollars or their credit card.

Technology has changed so much since I was 18 and registered with Microsoft for my Hotmail.com email address account. In my late teens the internet was very interesting to me so much that I wanted to become a website designer. My dad supported me and bought me educational software and text books for Adobe Golive, an HTML editor. I studied on my own mostly and learned many basic website design skills. I learned how to create web pages and ad text and graphics to them and how to lay out web pages so the visible information to the visitor was in order. I signed up for a web hosting account and registered a domain name and uploaded my first of many web pages with FTP to the host computer. From there I navigated with Internet Explorer web browser to my website domain name on the internet where I got to visit the first website I designed. It was a big deal to me. I was better at WYSIWYG what you see is what you get technology. Software engineering and coding was very difficult and I relied heavily on plug and play programs. I learned some HTML coding. I learned how to download premade widgets that would keep track of the amount of visitors my website received and add them to my web pages.

Cookies the technology was a big deal. I learned that cookies were back end code that collect data when a visitor visits a website. Technology cookies are used to collect many kinds of data about visitors at websites. I was able to install some premade cookies on the websites I designed that detailed what kind of web browser and computer the visitor to my websites was visiting from. Unlike chocolate chip cookies from an oven, I didn’t learn how to code my own technology cookies.

In food a cookie is a treat, a snack, sweet food, not the main course. The main course is the meal which is usually not sweet. Most of the energy in a meal is in the main course. For breakfast the main course meal is what sustains a person and gives them enough energy and nutrients for their mind and body to last them until their next meal which is often lunch. Dessert such as a cookie usually leaves a sweet taste in a persons mouth. It can cleanse the pallet from a savory meal. A glass of water does the same and leaves no aftertaste.

Much of how I learn is visual. I am blessed with eyesight. There are two kinds of cookies. The cookie you can see with your eyes and smell with your nose and touch with your hands and bring to your lips and taste on your tongue in your mouth and there are cookies that function in the background of websites that are not visible to website visitors on the internet. They are very different. There is nothing wrong with a cookie and be careful when choosing the source for a cookie.

  • Fighting illegal online content

The specific porn content a person is addicted to matters. That is a loaded statement. It’s loaded by the addict’s habit of looking at and watching porn. It’s loaded in the sense that the addict’s computer repeatedly over a long amount of time visits the addictive content. Computer’s create memories every time a visitor visits a website.

Cookies keep track of the visits. Cookies keep track of specific information that includes what website pages you visited and for how long in seconds minutes and hours. Marketers use information in the cookies to advertise their products and services to the visitor of their content. Even if you are not paying money for a subscription to pornographic content your visits to the content makes you invested.

You pay for internet service and while it’s billed as unlimited use on a monthly basis, the time you spend visiting porn content is a fraction of your total use of your internet service. The fraction translates to the amount of money you spend for your internet service visiting porn content. You’re investing in porn every time you visit a porn website even if you don’t pay money directly to the company that shows you the content.

Your computer invests in porn every time you visit porn content. If you quit watching and looking at porn your computer remembers you visited porn content. The cookies that advertise porn to you are sensitive and know for example that you haven’t visited their content. Overtime the porn cookies stop advertising porn to you because you stopped visiting porn content. It doesn’t change the past, it changes the present.

While there are studies that consuming some porn can have a positive effect on a person, studies also show consuming porn has negative consequences on people. Porn that shows underage people who are naked and having sex and porn that shows violence are very bad for everyone involved. They are bad for the victems being photographed and being recorded on video. They are bad for the people documenting illegal activity. They are bad for the computer website server that publishes illegal content.

The only innocent people are the victims who are underage and who are experiencing violence. The people taking photographs and recording videos of illegal activity are perpetrators to the crime. The website server that hosts illegal content are perpetrators to the crime. Persons who visit porn content online are complicit in the sense that if they do not report a crime they are aiding and abetting.

If you see a crime happen out in the world wherever you are, you are a witness to the crime. If you look the other way and leave it doesn’t make you part of the crime. If you go back to the same spot and witness crime again you have to ask yourself why you’re there. Hopefully you report the crime to the authorities.

I knew about this on the periphery of my conscious mind and learned recently where I read about “content management” is a real job online where people report illegal content and work to remove illegal content from the web.

People work in teams in the same office with the same goal of removing illegal content from the web and bringing criminals to justice. This is an opportunity to help make my community and United States and the world a safer place to live and raise a family. I am interested in doing this work.

  • Wow

I think back to my experience around and with computers. My first clear memory of being around a computer was when I was about 5 years old. My mom is an author and at home in her office at her desk was her computer. Often in the morning I would find my mom typing at her desk. Mom had an IBM computer at the time. It worked as a word processor she wrote and printed drafts of her cook books on and with a printer at home. Then she would send a cookbook draft to her Editor a person who worked for Random House or Penguin Publishing in a big corporate office and skilled at reviewing literature and making recommendations on the draft.

At one point I got to learn how to use my moms computer and practice typing. The object was to spell as many words as possible in a timed session. That’s how I learned how to type. At first I pecked at the keyboard and over time I was able to learn how to type. There was a game on my mom’s computer that was more like a mythical story. My memories of using my mom’s computer are not very clear. That was 42 years ago. There were no graphics and no pictures on the screen, it was all text, written onto the screen.

Several years later I moved out of my mom’s home and into my dad’s home. My dad also had a computer. He had several computers. My dad used his computers to manage his business. At the time my dad owned Apple Macintosh computers. The computer mouse pointing arrow tool had recently been invented. The first computers my dad owned had black and white screens. Black, white and grey graphics where all it could display. That and words. The computer my dad let me use had a paint program where I learned to draw simple pieces of art. My dad invested more and more in computers and learned how to repair them. Later my dad opened a computer store where sales people sold new computers and repaired used computers.

It’s accurate to say that from a young age I grew up around computers. It could have been 4th or 5th grade when at school us students were introduced to computer class. Our school had a computer room where our teacher brought us and taught us how to draw lines and designs on the Apple Mac computers with text prompts.

So much has changed in computing over the years. Whether I was using my parents’ computers or a computer my dad gave to me, computers were a significant part of my experience growing up.

“These days”, July 2025 the PC or personal computer has advanced so much it is mind boggling. Artificial Intellegence is powerful and so receptive it amazes me. The fear people have about AI has a basis weighted in science fiction. Why not, In science fiction stories there are villains and there are heros. In those stories usually the hero neutralizes the villain at the end. It’s a struggle.

People with experience using a computer vary as far and wide as humanity. I’m not too worried about Artificial Intelligence’s effect on humans. Artificial Intelligence will create new problems and solutions at the same pace. People struggle and overcome their struggles. That’s life and that is human nature. Life is good. Make the most of it.

  • My prediction of the use of Artificial Intelligence.

There is a lot of hype surrounding AI. Hundreds of billions of dollars are invested in developing AI. The hype around AI reminds me of the dotcom burst. A lot of the excitement about AI will fade. A lot of investment in AI will be lost. The use of AI in mainstream media is about 2 years old. A lot of good will come of AI. Almost everyone has a computer at home. People tend to use their computer at home differently than a computer they use at work. Most of my computer use has not been work related. I’ve earned some money designing websites 25 years ago. The money I earned designing websites I made at home in my home office.

It’s not simple to explain how AI is used because there are very many uses for it. The first thing that comes to mind with the use of AI is in search on a search engine. When I type in a question or statement to a search engine I receive an immediate response.

It’s like dropping a stone into still water. There is a ripple effect. The first ripple is the response to the data I typed. The first ripple is what I’m looking for, subsequent ripples are responses to the same data I typed. Subsequent ripples I receive in a variety of media messages and ads that have something to do with the data I typed. I might receive a ripple of information in response to data I typed to a search engine in a social media feed.

The effect of the data I type has a more intelligent response from my computer and from my phone. Data I type onto my computer AI amplifies in a variety of responses. AI is manufactured in modern computers and are more intelligent than older computers. Computers calculate and compute input. With AI input a computer receives is better at mirroring human behavior.

    8/22/2025

The AI bubble in relation to the dot com bubble is very different. Remember that at the time of the dot com bubble where many investors in the internet in America and around the world lost billions of dollars e-commerce was more of an idea than anything else. Banking online was in it’s infancy. Buying products from a website to be shipped to your address was hopeful and there were many many hurdles before the general population were ready willing and able to pay for products online. The AI bubble that appears to be fizzing is different in that the internet has proven itself to be a viable and effective technology for e-commerce that includes buying and selling just about anything on websites around the world.

I believe with AI the many billions of dollars invested in it won’t be perceived as big of a loss as the dot com bubble burst because the internet is where everyone goes to interact with AI and the internet has proven itself to be a reliable and efficient at e-commerce. In 2025 Investing in starting a business on the internet has many more similarities to investing in traditional brick and mortar businesses than during the dot com bubble and burst.

Ultimately an investment in AI is an investment in technology that relies very much on human input. There is risk in investing. Surely there will be investors who make great financial achievements with AI. AI has grown by leaps and bounds from when it started. This is good. AI will help business and consumers alike. It’s important to be very careful when investing. AI was narrated as the next big thing in technology and in many ways it is. That doesn’t mean everyone can expect to make a profit with it.
