  • Evening in Medford Oregon

I went to the bar just before dusk.

A couple were seated at one end

I traveled there alone and sat down on a corner stool.

A big woman with long straight dark hair asked me quietly, “what are you having”?

Do you have Heineken in a bottle? I asked. “Yes”, she brought me the beer and asked, do you want to leave the tab open?

“I’ll leave it open”. I replied. Several people were seated along a wall gambling on big machines where the players pull levers down or press a button and hope for a winning score.

A small group of younger men were gathered near a pool table focused on the balls at play.

The bar has good food. Last time I ate there I got a plate of quesadillas with grilled chicken. I sipped the Heineken and ordered another.

On television the Sandiego Padres were playing a team I did not recognize. Their opponents black Jerzy had a capitol A on the breast pocket area, white and silver. The television stats kept the opponents team a mystery to me. Padre’s were up 4-3.

The couple at the end of the bar noticed the baseball game on television for a moment and seemed to be enjoying themselves. They are a Hispanic man and women in their mid-thirty’s. Several other couples were seated around the room at tables. An Oriental man appeared to have more than enough drinks to possibly walk home.

It’s a quiet neighborhood bar in a small shopping center with a Domino’s Pizza and a drive through coffee shop. Joes, Bar and Grill. Is it a franchise or one of a kind? I don’t know, I enjoyed the beer and social environment.

The waitress brought me a second beer and spoke up, I’m glad. It was good to hear her voice above the voices of patrons. I settled my tab then drove home.

It’s early in the evening, Thursday in the all American town. Tonight will cool off some from the summer heat.

  • Human relations

I’m trying to get the word nigger out of my thoughts. The n word doesn’t occupy my mind often, but when it does it’s deliberate. I don’t consider myself racist. I speak to people with respect appropriately that depends on the individual. When I was a teenage boy I repeatedly got in trouble, some of that trouble was with other black boys of similar age as me.

In current news media the n word is shunned for good reasons. Most of my friends were white growing up. Sometimes we’d joke around and call each other dog or the n word in a friendly manner. I understand from learning US history the n word emotionally hurt many people and is very divisive. I remember using the n word once yelling at a black man who didn’t pay me for driving him in a taxi cab to the destination he asked me to.

There are less black people in the community I live in, in comparison to Los Angeles where I met and befriended many people from a variety of cultures. I learned a lot about people living in L.A. It’s my opportunity to not label a black person in my thoughts as anything else than human. A living breathing person who has feelings and feels encouragement and respect when those thoughts are present.

Thoughts are things. I left my teenage years over 28 years ago. I’ve learned how to relate better to people since. I don’t feel guilty or ashamed for having thought the n word when coming in contact with a black person. I’m glad I don’t use it. The n word is a heavy thought. It’s my old psychological baggage I let go of. We are a free country, free to live and love and prosper.

I’m making the world a better place letting go of old psychological baggage and wishing readers health and happiness. This post is meant to encourage continued good relations with people of all colors.

  • I went by my x girlfriends house last week. I had deleted her number from my phone and showed up and knocked on her door. She answered the door and was quick to smile. We talked for a few moments and she invited me in. Her apartment hasn’t changed much, it’s not a big mess like it was in the past. There are still way to many things in her apartment. She’s a hoarder. That was a major reason why I left her. I learned that people who hoard things can get very clingy, very attached to things, she was very attached to me and it was uncomfortable. In all honesty I was horny when I went to see her. We didn’t have sex. I didn’t go upstairs to her room so I don’t know if her room is a complete mess. I like to think that it’s not overflowing with things and clothes and it is not my business.

I took her out for ice cream downtown. We sat on chairs in the mall and enjoyed conversation and eating ice cream. Then we went to a clothing store where she bought a new shirt. Then I drove her to my home and helped her order an instruction manual for her sewing machine. We hung out and talked for a while then I drove her to her apartment.

It was good to see her and visit with her and it’s good to have my space.

  • A chance encounter

I met a woman today at work. I arrived before she did at the yard where we get ready to go out in the field, more specifically to a road and control traffic as Flaggers in constructions zones. I checked in with the supervisor at 6:30am and we waited for instructions from the power company. Instructions never came. We waited on call at the meetup location for 7 hours before it was called off. The woman arrived not long after I did. I forget her name. I introduced myself and held out my hand to shake hers. She shook my hand. She had a story to tell. She didn’t tell me her story, just her name. She had tattoos on the side of her head, a puzzle piece.

She was a similar age as me. She had shoulder length straight blond hair and pale white skin. We all waited in our cars for the instructions that did not come. In my car the thoughts in my mind about her were “don’t speak unless spoken to” That statement I’ve never used. I won’t teach my kids to behave that way if I have kids. The women I met for a moment surely had many things to say. I noticed her reading a book in her car. I thought maybe she ate fried eggs for breakfast. She’s beautiful. Later she joined the supervisor in the supervisors truck with her book. Maybe they are friends. I would like to speak to her, the opportunity didn’t present itself. I’m new as a Flagger. I can speak to her at another shift.

Sometimes words come to me when I meet people, the statement, don’t talk unless you’re spoken to was clear in my mind when I met her. I’m glad she introduced herself after I reached out to shake her hand and introduced myself. I shook her hand for a moment. It was a human connection. I’m glad I reached out to her. Overcoming barriers is important. I did ask her if she liked the work and she said yes.

I noticed she had a big smile when she joined our supervisor in her truck. The seven hours went fairly fast. I turned music on and air conditioning and dozed off. I ate lunch. And dozed off again. At 7 hours another supervisor from the power company drove over and gave us papers with our 7 hours for the day. Getting paid to sit in my car for seven hours was my luck I suppose. I like to stay busy, I’d rather get paid to work than to sit in my car. That doesn’t happen very often.

  • Fighting illegal online content

The specific porn content a person is addicted to matters. That is a loaded statement. It’s loaded by the addict’s habit of looking at and watching porn. It’s loaded in the sense that the addict’s computer repeatedly over a long amount of time visits the addictive content. Computer’s create memories every time a visitor visits a website.

Cookies keep track of the visits. Cookies keep track of specific information that includes what website pages you visited and for how long in seconds minutes and hours. Marketers use information in the cookies to advertise their products and services to the visitor of their content. Even if you are not paying money for a subscription to pornographic content your visits to the content makes you invested.

You pay for internet service and while it’s billed as unlimited use on a monthly basis, the time you spend visiting porn content is a fraction of your total use of your internet service. The fraction translates to the amount of money you spend for your internet service visiting porn content. You’re investing in porn every time you visit a porn website even if you don’t pay money directly to the company that shows you the content.

Your computer invests in porn every time you visit porn content. If you quit watching and looking at porn your computer remembers you visited porn content. The cookies that advertise porn to you are sensitive and know for example that you haven’t visited their content. Overtime the porn cookies stop advertising porn to you because you stopped visiting porn content. It doesn’t change the past, it changes the present.

While there are studies that consuming some porn can have a positive effect on a person, studies also show consuming porn has negative consequences on people. Porn that shows underage people who are naked and having sex and porn that shows violence are very bad for everyone involved. They are bad for the victems being photographed and being recorded on video. They are bad for the people documenting illegal activity. They are bad for the computer website server that publishes illegal content.

The only innocent people are the victims who are underage and who are experiencing violence. The people taking photographs and recording videos of illegal activity are perpetrators to the crime. The website server that hosts illegal content are perpetrators to the crime. Persons who visit porn content online are complicit in the sense that if they do not report a crime they are aiding and abetting.

If you see a crime happen out in the world wherever you are, you are a witness to the crime. If you look the other way and leave it doesn’t make you part of the crime. If you go back to the same spot and witness crime again you have to ask yourself why you’re there. Hopefully you report the crime to the authorities.

I knew about this on the periphery of my conscious mind and learned recently where I read about “content management” is a real job online where people report illegal content and work to remove illegal content from the web.

People work in teams in the same office with the same goal of removing illegal content from the web and bringing criminals to justice. This is an opportunity to help make my community and United States and the world a safer place to live and raise a family. I am interested in doing this work.

  • I am a Professional

I started a business on Valentines day. I am single and at my desk on my computer I researched domain names until I found a domain name that fits the products I want to sell. Bizconsult.me I registered the domain name and signed up for a website hosting account and designed the website.

It’s July 3rd. The lifespan of a business is not set in stone. My business has come along way since I registered the domain name and signed up for website hosting. The website has grown to 17 pages of information about the products I sell and serves as a how to for starting a business including registering a business title with the Secretary of State where a business is located and does business. Registering with the IRS for an EIN number to be accountable with profit.

I told my friends and family about my business and created a facebook presence for it. I designed business cards and a brochure and had them printed. I created sales tools to bring with me when I’m pitching my products to leads. I opened a bank account registered to my business. These are much of the tangible things I’ve created with my business. The website is not tangible in the sense that it can’t be picked up or felt. It is tangible in the sense that it is a presence online people can visit and look at anytime. It’s always on to motivate people to buy advertising products from me and inform entrepreneurs about entrepreneurship.

I share advice about managing money and debt and credit cards on bizconsult.me. My business has a lot of potential.

I haven’t had much time to prospect for leads and give sales pitches. Recently I’ve used my time to work as an employee with a temp agency. I need to earn and have saved enough money to use more of my time to prospect for leads and give sales pitches. I also met the owner of a marketing business I work with in sales for commission. It’s good to have a business partner. We have similar business concepts. My business partner has many years experience growing and building businesses.

My business is a success in the sense that I have a professional presence on the internet. My business is also a success that it is registered to do business here in the State of Oregon where my office is. I also opened a merchant account. I accept credit card payments online and on my cellphone. My business is also a success in the sense that profit I make with it is on the up and up. I registered an EIN number for my business with IRS. My business is bright and gleams and is ready to make sales. I also created an email account for my business, jason@bizconsult.me

  • Wow

I think back to my experience around and with computers. My first clear memory of being around a computer was when I was about 5 years old. My mom is an author and at home in her office at her desk was her computer. Often in the morning I would find my mom typing at her desk. Mom had an IBM computer at the time. It worked as a word processor she wrote and printed drafts of her cook books on and with a printer at home. Then she would send a cookbook draft to her Editor a person who worked for Random House or Penguin Publishing in a big corporate office and skilled at reviewing literature and making recommendations on the draft.

At one point I got to learn how to use my moms computer and practice typing. The object was to spell as many words as possible in a timed session. That’s how I learned how to type. At first I pecked at the keyboard and over time I was able to learn how to type. There was a game on my mom’s computer that was more like a mythical story. My memories of using my mom’s computer are not very clear. That was 42 years ago. There were no graphics and no pictures on the screen, it was all text, written onto the screen.

Several years later I moved out of my mom’s home and into my dad’s home. My dad also had a computer. He had several computers. My dad used his computers to manage his business. At the time my dad owned Apple Macintosh computers. The computer mouse pointing arrow tool had recently been invented. The first computers my dad owned had black and white screens. Black, white and grey graphics where all it could display. That and words. The computer my dad let me use had a paint program where I learned to draw simple pieces of art. My dad invested more and more in computers and learned how to repair them. Later my dad opened a computer store where sales people sold new computers and repaired used computers.

It’s accurate to say that from a young age I grew up around computers. It could have been 4th or 5th grade when at school us students were introduced to computer class. Our school had a computer room where our teacher brought us and taught us how to draw lines and designs on the Apple Mac computers with text prompts.

So much has changed in computing over the years. Whether I was using my parents’ computers or a computer my dad gave to me, computers were a significant part of my experience growing up.

“These days”, July 2025 the PC or personal computer has advanced so much it is mind boggling. Artificial Intellegence is powerful and so receptive it amazes me. The fear people have about AI has a basis weighted in science fiction. Why not, In science fiction stories there are villains and there are heros. In those stories usually the hero neutralizes the villain at the end. It’s a struggle.

People with experience using a computer vary as far and wide as humanity. I’m not too worried about Artificial Intelligence’s effect on humans. Artificial Intelligence will create new problems and solutions at the same pace. People struggle and overcome their struggles. That’s life and that is human nature. Life is good. Make the most of it.

  • Old Glory

My post today is about ways to be an American United States Citizen and be proud of who you are while being sensitive to people around the world who do not have freedoms Americans do. First of all, Freedom isn’t free. People around the world should feel free to live in the country where they were born. Even in United States this freedom to live in US when you were born in US is being questioned.

If a US Citizen breaks the law I think they should be held accountable and brought to justice. I don’t think they should be deported. The idea that US Citizens could be deported makes no sense. Dual citizens for example of United States and Mexico have more freedoms to live and travel between both countries. This might seem like a great freedom but in fact it means much more. If you are a dual citizen of US and Mexico it is inferred that you are loyal to both countries. US and Mexico are allies and we share our southern border. It’s easier for US Citizens to travel back and forth to and from Mexico.

Mexicans have a more difficult time traveling back and forth between US and Mexico for several reasons. United States economy is stronger that Mexico’s economy. Mexicans often want to migrate to US because of opportunities in US that are not available in Mexico. Americans from as far south as Chile travel north to Mexico trying to migrate to US. When they arrive at the US Mexico border it’s difficult for US Border Patrol to identify what country they are from.

The US Mexico border is the last line of defense US Citizens have from keeping unwanted Americans out of United States. What makes an American born south of United States border want to migrate to United States include many reasons. Their reasons are not always good enough. Just like any country around the world, United States wants citizens with good reasons to be here. Being born in United States is a good reason to live in US most of the time. By most I mean the vast majority of the population of United States who were born in US deserve the right to live in US.

US Citizens who live in US and commit a crime should be held accountable and brought to justice that includes serving time in jail or prison in United States. I don’t understand why a US Citizen who is found to have committed a crime would be deported. US soil is precious. US prisons are often overpopulated. It’s still US soil on US land. And people in jail and in prison should serve their time until their sentence is done.

Be a law abiding citizen is what to do. Many US Citizens break the law and should be held accountable and brought to justice and serve time in jail or prison in US. Many more US Citizens are law abiding. That’s the way to live.

An American born south of the US border who wants to migrate to US might want to claim political asylum. If the country they fled is killing or mistreating their citizens is a reason a person born in a foreign country might have to apply to US Government claiming political asylum.

The world overall is safe for people in their own country and that is not the case in every country around the world. Were there are wars citizens of war torn countries have good reasons to leave to a country that accepts them if they are not going to fight back or can’t fight back.

Americans in US have it good. We are free to live in our country and we are free to travel and migrate to a foreign country. These are precious freedoms. Life is precious.

  • It’s important to write about what you believe in. I’m writing about weapons and the use of weapons. From guns and rapid-fire rifles to missiles and bombs. Unfortunately, we need them. Americans need weapons. We need weapons to defend ourselves and to defend America and specifically to defend United States. Will humanity ever learn to live in peace? Here in US our country is at peace. US is a large country, and violence happens everyday in small and large communities around the nation.

My message is less weapons are better. As an American you have the right to protect yourself. My opinion is less weapons are better for everyone. I believe there is no reason for civilians to buy rapid fire rifles. A rapid-fire rifle is a weapon designed for Military use. Unfortunately, US Military needs these weapons to defend United States and to help defend our allies. There is war on Earth and although unfortunate it is a truth. My opinion is less missiles and less bombs are better. Having the most weapons give US an advantage and that is good. It’s good to have the advantage and there is no need to have very many more weapons than a foreign government. When US learns to rely less on weapons and more on talking to solutions, lives are saved. Lives are saved through talking to solutions in our community and in our neighborhoods, in our state and in our nation.

United States may be the most powerful country with the most lethal military and that is good. Questioning ourselves of are we the most powerful keeps us on our toes. It’s good to have the edge. It’s good to be the most powerful and the most lethal when it comes to protecting Americans and our allies around the world. Men and Women in United States Military defend the country everyday of the year at all hours, rain and shine, through heat waves and on the coldest snowy nights. The US Military protects us through hurricanes and tornadoes, earthquakes and fires.

The US Military defends us at home in United States and abroad while traveling and living in foreign countries around the world. Men and Women in the US Military are brave and powerful and have paid the ultimate sacrifice throughout US history and take an oath to defend Americans and our interests. Living in America and specifically in United States is a blessing. Americans have freedoms citizens of many foreign countries do not know.

This is not a reason to bully a foreign country. Around the world in different countries, people live in peace and in some countries, there is war. Often foreign countries at peace are our allies. Sometimes foreign countries experiencing war are our allies and it’s in those countries US Military often go to help defend them and protect them against a different adversary that are invading.

I am not a warrior. I don’t own weapons. I didn’t grow up around weapons at home much and have very rarely witnessed weapons being used in public. I am grateful for US Military, and I understand the value Americans have in their ability to visit their local gun store and buy whether it’s for self-defense and for hunting.

I think background checks are important when buying weapons. I see the signs “just try to take it away from me” I’m not going to try. I’m not going to touch it. To each their own has many meanings. Live and let live is important. Give peace a chance.

  • 2025 Media

In the 80’s and 90’s suspense and violent action movies involving the US Government often told a story of international tension and deception that lead the starring Actor of the movie on a journey to save American lives by neutralizing a foreign threat. Often the threat was a foreign government or rogue militia with a nuclear weapon. Towards the end of many of these movies the star Actor gains control of the nuclear weapon and stops the countdown in less than 10 seconds from nuclear missiles aimed at America being launched.

All this happens while in a movie scene back at home in United States many men and women are at their computer work stations in a large conference room watching the drama unfold on a large screen on a wall. The large screen is divided into many smaller screens. Each screen has a completely different video playing on it.

This is often how many of these movies ended. A threat is neutralized and the men and women at work at their desks in a large conference room looking to the large screen on the wall get the good news and stand and rejoice, clapping and cheering on the star Actor of the movie. The day is saved in America in the movie. This movie ending “theme” that repeats in many movies had a lasting effect.

Society and technology has morphed and transformed. Often the first time people watch movies are on their personal computer at home or their television at home. With YouTube and Netflix the effect these movies from the 80’s and 90’s had leads to current day and the internet that was not available for the public until the mid 90’s

In those movies each one of those frames playing videos on a large screen represented an important matter. There was too many videos to watch them all at once and that was obvious watching the scene in the movie. Multiple screens added a backdrop layer of suspense to the details of the actors in a conference room scene. Some of these movies were comedies. Most were not. Most of the movies were about very real issues people face in life and consequences to actions. The movies were microcosms of news reports.

Now the multiple screens are on YouTube and Netflix. NetFlix is for watching movies and documentaries. YouTube is more versatile. Some video’s that show a preview on YouTube are similar to junk mail. Garbage and clutter. Unwanted visual and audio information. As they say one mans trash is another mans treasure. There are video previews that are valued. Something interesting, a topic that is important. It’s up to the visitor at YouTube to input data for YouTube to locate videos based on the input. Another way of previewing videos is selecting the refresh button on the web browser and a whole new screen of video previews appears.
